A Diamond in the Rough

There are times
when I need to just
allow beauty
 within myself to shine bright
even when the sun is blocked
 by negative shadows.
And other times
when I see beautiful things
to actually
allow myself to hope for them!
Far too often,
 over the past few years
I've denied myself the pleasure
of simple hopes and dreams.
