March Meet the Makers: 9

How It's Made

1) Select fabric
2) Cut strip & sew together
3)Crochet...

Sewing fabric strips together to form a long ball of fabric yarn!

Crochet...

This is another rug I'm making for outdoor space.
I'm using left-over fabric from a previous costume project I sewed.

Never try to sew...

I found this floating around online
WOW!
Am I glad to be a woman from a completely different era!
If I was to attempt to live by these standards
I'd have never done any sewing :)
I do some of my best creating
when 'urgent housekeeping chores' are not met!

Lovely nesting doll print.
I have several projects planned for this pretty fabric!

There's a silly project in the works using this Dachshund print
and...

this one too
and...

this adorable fabric too!

Dachshunds, mini-weiners, weeny dogs...

Homemade Pattern

Finishing up my home made hat pattern
 made from fleece.

Click on link below to see
the very start of this project.
Creating Pattern

All done!

It's just too...
cylinder shaped!

Clever idea brewing under this hat...

All done now with
clever idea applied...

Gathered back.

My sewing machine decided to act up today too!

I may add a felt shape to the hat...

or simply make more hats!

This one is my fav!

The Joy of Patterns

My next new challenge;
making academic robes
for ren faire.

Unexpected find.
Patterns were on sale at JoAnn's fabric.
$1 each in must buy 5 bundle.
So I found a few patterns
I normally wouldn't get.
Thought it would be fun to make a few new things.

Making a Simple Fleece Hat Pattern

I have this great black fleece hat
that fits perfect, but
I want one in white too!

So I've created a pattern
using the original hat.

I use recycled cereal box for sturdy pattern.

Cut out...

Transfer to fleece.

It's too late, so I'll sew it tomorrow!

Or maybe the next day...

Quilt Shop Inspired

Every time I'm at my local quilt store
I see this doll...

And I think how easy she
would be to create,
however I haven't made her yet.
I need to make this soon!

I also see this fabric journal holder.
I love all the pockets.
One with zipper and one without.
Just so much I could do with this!

Another one of those projects I see and think
how easy it would be to make,
yet I've not made it!
Now I'm challenging myself to make
these two projects before month's end!

Another Sewing Project

I made this ladybug zipper purse from
this book.
Lots of fun projects in it!

Had it not been for my Mother,
I may not be arts and crafty!
She bought me my first sewing machine
the year this photo was taken!
I actually used it to create the ladybug purse!
It's over 25 years old too!
Mum passed away nearly 9 years ago!
I miss her!
