The Five 'C's'

What a lovely, perfect Friday morning.
The weather is delightful. The sky is blue.
Both humidity and high temps have gone.
A chilly fall breeze is blowing in from the north.
This day just feels perfectly Fall!
Oh and there is one more thing...my morning started out with the Five 'C's':
Coffee, Crochet, Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Coffee, crochet, chocolate chip cookies...Yum!

National Coffee Day?

My daughter sent me a text message informing me it was National Coffee Day.  So I promptly went to cooker, put kettle on and made an instant cup!  Hope your Coffee Day is as delightful as mine is turning out! :)

A Tourist Kind of Day

Heading out on adventure this fine fall day...
I love all the trees and "fall feel" today!

Having just moved to Virginia, I wanted to learn of some of the local and state history.
Luckily, the Historical Museum is just 15 miles away.
So this afternoon I dodged the lighting, thunder and down pours so I could
visit Richmond's museums.

I'm in front of the Virginia Historical Society entrance.

Scrap Yarn

What with the change in season my dogs will need a few sweaters now.
I whipped these scrap yarn/crocheted sweaters up in no time.
Didn't use a pattern just sorta 'winged it'.
Because both dogs are so different in size I measured them and began creating
from there.
As for Natasha's sweater shirt, I used a knitting method first, for her collar.
On double point knitting needles I created a tube.
Then I crocheted the 'skirt' portion. This was a very fast project.
Both sweater were made in a day.

Natasha in her pink sweat shirt.

Natalia in her crocheted sweater.

Natasha (in pink) doesn't like long sweaters. She always pulls at the end so I made her's like a shirt instead.

First Fire For Fall

The weather changed so radically this past week.
Just on Monday and Tuesday we were ROASTING!
With temps around 90 degrees up until Wednesday afternoon, that's when the winds picked up.
To my absolute joy, cooler weather blew in.
As I type this the temp tonight has dipped down to 52 degrees!
Crispy coolness prompted us to use our fireplace for the first time since we moved here to
Virginia a little over two months ago.
I'm looking forward to winter this year :)

 New sweaters for the girls...

I don't think she likes her new sweater!

The Arrival of Fall Weather...finally!

So far, this is how many Granny Squares I've made, YTD. My daily challenge is still working!
What with having just moved to the east coast of Virginia, I've been very anxious for a 'change' in weather!
Living in paradise (not complaining) has it's advantages. However, I'm looking forward to the dramatic change of weather, that the east coast will offer!
I had started with fewer branches in previous picture. I like  the fuller look best.
One such occurrence has finally happened. Cooler weather; FALL.
So, I was so motivated to decorate my mantel yesterday.

Simple colour.

Crochet Challenge

I'm keeping up with my 'one a day' Summer Granny Squares'.

Once I've crocheted them I have to bind off the loose tails.

Something new for September!

One more creative challenge!
I've decided to start this art challenge for September http://www.tracibunkers.com/blog/2011/08/another-30-days-of-get-your-art-on.html
After reading about it over on ravenscauldron's blog here; http://ravenscauldron.blogspot.com/
So between crocheting a summer granny square everyday. Pattern tutorial found here: http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/summer-garden-granny-square.html
AND taking a photo a day, and uploading it here: http://365project.org/bairbreaine/365
I wanted to do a challenge that would get me painting/drawing and creating mixed media art again!
Looking forward to the next 30 days.
Gotta run now, so much creating to get done! ;)
