Beautiful Morning

Heading out early this Friday...

I love the quiet roads on these early, snowy mornings.

Still and calm

Oh the sunrise is so pretty!

First few of us in car park!

Snowy and cold...

Cherry blossoms already out!

Every time I walk past this area
I get this urge to wave...

Some mornings
when no one is around,
like today,
I wave

Good-Morning St. Joesph

Cherry blossom goodness!

I can't stop gazing at these gorgeous trees
and blue sky!

I so appreciate the person(s) who cleared these sidewalks
making it safe for all who walk upon them!

Such a lovely, snowy day!

I know that its covered with snow

With every step I take closer
I have this sensation to sit down upon it!

Perhaps it's just best to walk on by!

March Meet the Makers: 9

How It's Made

1) Select fabric
2) Cut strip & sew together

Sewing fabric strips together to form a long ball of fabric yarn!

This is another rug I'm making for outdoor space.
I'm using left-over fabric from a previous costume project I sewed.

March Meet the Maker: 7

Each morning starts with
a cuppa, (coffee or tea)
cosy spot to catch-up on world events
(read news, e-mails),
and then I start on daily schedule

I work best when I have planned out my main goals for the day/week/month.

As I accomplish things, I remove them from the list.

I was pleased with Monday/Tuesday accomplishments!
Nothing 'left over' from previous day!
This is NOT always the case!
I can get distracted easily!

I have two wipe-boats with separate objectives:
creative endeavors and the other is more personal hopes/dreams/inspirations.

Pictured above is only the create endeavors.

March Meet the Maker: Day 6

My IKEA metal table is the perfect creative space for me lately!
Mostly, I like the mobility of it.
I organise, the bottom shelf with supplies for that days projects.
I'm very content using this little cart like table!

I like using this portable, little sewing machine
because I can create in a quick moment...

Here I'm crocheting with the fabric yarn I made earlier

This little portable cart/table allows for
quick usage
like on this canvas I'm tacking down edges
before I start hand sewing/embroidering later.

From start to finish...
fabric to yarn

March Meet the Maker: Day 5

I take my pictures on what ever is handy...
iPhone, iPad,
old digital Canon Power Shot sx100 camera!
I use the filters in IG mostly.
Occasionally I'll use photoshop.
I also like goofing around with SnapChat,
and google photo filters.

March Meet the Maker 1-4

 Days 1-4 of
                                                              March Meet the Maker:

Introduction of Me

Where I'm creating

How I Got Started as a Maker

Favourite to Make

I'm Bairbre Aine
I'm a fourth generation artisan, maker.

Most people call me Babs.
I live in Northern Virginia, just a little west of Washington D.C.
I'm one of many, many artisans, creatives, makers in my family.
I cannot remember the first craft/art project I made, but I do remember the joy I felt
sewing my first handmade quilt, and embroidering a gift for my mum at age 7.

Handmade was our family way.
We didn't buy gifts for each other,
we created personal items
and made them in secret
so to surprise whomever the recipient was.

Seriously, you might want a nice warm beverage
right about now...

We designer personal cards for every occasion, and made homemade treats (food) to accompany all special occasions/holidays!

I learned every arts and crafts skill I could by high school:
from drawing, airbrushing, painting (oils, watercolor, acrylic...), murals, window displays, window painting, ceramics, jewelry making (lost was casting, enameling, metal work, bedding...),
fiber, textile, sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet, tatting, macrame, embroidery, rug making, wood working, paper crafting, glass work/cutting, etching, clothes/costume designing, set design/painting/building.

Oh and so much more...

I'm sipping tea as I write this!

My current logo

Summer art programs (between elementary/Jr. high/high school years) taught me
animation, book making, batik, ceramics, origami, cartooning, sculpture, music...
I love to create!
I don't have 'A favourite to make'

Creating for me is like breathing.

Without it I cannot even imagine what else I'd be doing!!

I'm also a teacher, instructor, performer...

Over the years I've taught hundreds and hundreds of people
(adults & children)
to find their creative bliss
thought making/crafting/art adventuring!

I'm so aware of how fortunate I was/am
to have grown up in an art rich learning environment,
well before Art Programs were cut from educational and community budgets!

I'm a little embarrassed now
for sharing so much.

I'm out!
