Beanie Instructions Part 3 of 3

Continuing with hdc rows
I stopped at 3 1/2"

This was long enough for my project

I decided I wanted to add ear flaps to this beanie...

I just added a row of hdc (15 std)
chained two
turned worker and crocheted
another 15 sts of hdc.

I finished second row of hdc
where I began...

on the 3rd row
chain two
hdc tog,
hdc in the remaining stitches
until you get to last two stitches
then
hdc tog.

Chain 2, turn
hdc tog,
and repeat the decreases at the beginning
and ending of each row
until there is just on stitch left.

Chain stitch about 30 stitches for dangle bit
slip knot, cut excessive yarn.

Make second ear flap on the opposite side of beanie.

Beanie Instructions Part 1 of 3

The inspiration for this beanie
originated from one of those
free patterns you get from the craft store
in the yard section.
However, that pattern wasn't completely what I was looking for
so I made several changes.
Here is my version.
Crocheted Blue Beanie:

I used a F5- 3.75mm hook for the body of the hat and a E4 -3.50mm the trim (dark blue)
Using Baby Soft Lion Brand Yarns (Cuddly sport weight) for hat:

To begin: ch 2
Round 1: work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, slip st in first sc to join, = 6 sc.
Make sure to place maker here (1st Rnd)
Rnd 2: ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc, =12 sc
Rnd 2: ch 1 add stitch marker, single crochet in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat 6 times = 18 sc.
Rnd 3: ch 1, add stitch marker, single crochet in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat 6 times = 24 sc.
Rnd 4: ch 1, add stitch marker, single crochet in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat 6 times =30 sc.
Rnd 5: ch 1, add stitch marker, single crochet in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat 6 times = 36 sc.

Chain two
work 6 single crochet into 2nd chain from hook

place marker in chain 1 stitch for 1st round

single crochet 2 times in each single crochet stitch
(12 stitch total in at the end of round)
slip stitch into starting stitch, chain one, add marker...

Single crochet in next single crochet, 2 single crochet in the next single crochet.
Repeat this six times till you come to end of round three.
This is what the end of round 3 looks like.
slip stich into starting stitch, chain one, add marker,
start round four next...

End of round 5
I'll upload more pictures of this project on tomorrow post...
