Crochet Pattern Books

The unexpected.
I love it when I'm not looking for something,
but stumble across it,
like these crochet pattern books.

I just happened upon them.
Each is normally priced at 25 cents,
but today, the blue stickers were 10 cents.

And though I don't make Doilies,
I do like the pattern for
the very centre of each
of the dollies
to use for other projects.

And I do like the idea of using the oval
doilies for garments.

I was over joyed to find this leaflet
crochet pattern brochure too.
For a whole 5 cents!
Yep, grey stickers were even less cost
this day!

I love the sock weight fiber usage in these shawls.

And the fluffy fibers in the white shawl.

This pattern is sooo vintage, retro.
A must make!

And lastly,
my fav book out of all four of these!
Notice the grey sticker,
yep, 5 cents in cost!
I love the bulky weight,
orange wrap!

This is my most FAV
of all the patterns!
In a bulky, textured fiber!
I am so making this before
winter this year!!!

And another dainty, stylist
shawl/wrap!
I'm so please with my
30 cents purchase!
All four paper back books
a total cost of 30 cents!
Love, love, love
charity shopping!

Charity Find

I found this at a charity shop today
and thought it would be perfect
to add to my
'portrait' collection.
The only wish is
that more of the
ladies were
smiling
:)

Charity Shop Finds, Loved Ones & Giveaway!

Found all this fabric, yarn, needles and buttons for $3

Found this black portable cart/storage for $5

This was listed as 150 bucks...
I got it for $25 :)

My dog climbed up on the footstool next to me
where I was crocheting granny squares.
She was shivering, SO I covered her with GS's...

She re-positioned a couple of times
but those squares stayed on her...

She didn't like the one on her head, so she knocked it off
and went back to sleep.
Silly girl!
Making fresh tomato/basil sauce for dinner tonight.
Nothing like the smell of fresh garlic, bell pepper, basil, thyme
and tomatoes in the kitchen. Yum.
I may make a small lasagna too!
To make this sauce:
1 lb of ground beef
1 package of Italian sweet sausage
three medium size tomato
1 green bell pepper
4 cloves of garlic
fresh basil
sugar
fresh thyme
3 tbsp water
 6oz tomato paste
salt/pepper/oregano to taste
Brown beef/sausage over med/high, add garlic, chopped peppers
stir till brown
add diced fresh tomatoes, fresh basil, sugar, fresh thyme, paste, water and seasoning.
Simmer over medium heat till bubbles, reduce heat and let simmer for a 3 hours,
stirring every 30 minutes.
Will serve four to six people over spag OR
feeds two over spag and med size lasagna.
Really good next day too!

Handmade is made with love...
Me and my 3 month old Grandson on skype
having a nice chat :)
Future proof that my Grandson gets 'it' the silliness
 from his Mum!
And my daughter gets it from...?
I wonder who...

Me Perhaps?

Leave a comment today, here on this my 200th post and enter a drawing for a stuffed pal
I've hand crafted...
Good luck!!!

Busy Hands

Rearranged and cut flowers for dinning table.

Glued and puttied leg of charity shop find!
This chair was only $5!

Baked lemon cake and sliced it up for easy
grab and go snack!

Baked some beer bread.

Crocheted a piece of toast, although in this picture
it reminds me of an owl.
I have to make an additional 29 more of these toasts/owls...

Crocheted a dozen granny squares for a public yarn
bombing that will take place in California, in March 2013.
I plan to make a total of 120 granny squares, in 12 square increments.

Sawed out a dozen birds, plus a few extra for gifts for holiday.
Sanded a few too. I have about 100 more to complete.

Put the girls in their t-shirts, brrrrr it's a chilly day today
not to mention their stares at me after putting them in their
t-shirts. They hate sweaters equally as much.
'but it's cold girls...'
It's a good night for chicken and dumplings.
Oh with a slice of warm beer bread too...

YUM!
This meal took only an hour to make from start to finish!
It's super easy too!
3 lbs boneless/skinless chicken (rinse & cut up)
Add 3 cups of water to large pot
add cut up chicken, salt, pepper, thyme, poultry seasoning.
Bring to boil over high heat.
Reduce heat to simmer once boils and cover
and cook on simmer for 25 minutes.
Cut up 1 1/2 cups carrots and 1/1/2 cups celery.
Add carrots and celery after done simmering for 25 minutes,
cover and cook for 10 minutes.
While veg cook, make dumplings
you can most drop biscuit recipes
OR use boxed bisquick...
2 cups bisquick, 2/3 cup milk.
set dough aside.
Once veg is done cooking for 10 minutes, uncover
and add dumplings by rolling up small portions of dough
and dropping them on top of chicken/veg mixture.
This should yield approximately 12 dumplings.
More if you make small balls, or fewer if you roll larger dough balls.
Cook another 10 minutes UNCOVERED, over simmer.
Once done,
Cook an additional 10 minutes COVERED.
Once done, serve and enjoy!
Total cooking time: 55 minutes.
Prep time: 10 minutes

Shopping List
3 lbs skinless/boneless chicken
1 bag of small serving carrots
1 stalk of celery
1 box of Bisquick
salt/pepper/thyme/poultry seasoning

Enjoy!
