Dog Days of Summer

My dachshund is so cute
I imagine she's thinking
"Hi human, do you have a treat for me?"

"No you say, ok I'm going back to sleep"

Oh the dog days of summer are upon us now!

Simply Soft

I love where this project is going!
It's so fun to make
and super easy!

I also love Caron's Simply Soft yarn
for this Minion Beanie!

I wonder if I should make a wee minion beanie
for
my wee mini dachshund?!

Boxing Day

Hallo Friends!
Have you ever crocheted something,
without a pattern,
thinking that it looks ok, and will function great,
only to relise after it's done,
that it actually in aweful?

Well that's these two sweaters, yes TWO!
My poor dog is forced to wear them
during cold, rainy days!
She is not pleased with me!

Today, the day after Christmas,
I felt exhausted
and as if I'm coming down with
a touch of a cold...
So I snuggled up and kept warm and
ate soup and watched films this day.
Cheers~

Charity Shop Finds, Loved Ones & Giveaway!

Found all this fabric, yarn, needles and buttons for $3

Found this black portable cart/storage for $5

This was listed as 150 bucks...
I got it for $25 :)

My dog climbed up on the footstool next to me
where I was crocheting granny squares.
She was shivering, SO I covered her with GS's...

She re-positioned a couple of times
but those squares stayed on her...

She didn't like the one on her head, so she knocked it off
and went back to sleep.
Silly girl!
Making fresh tomato/basil sauce for dinner tonight.
Nothing like the smell of fresh garlic, bell pepper, basil, thyme
and tomatoes in the kitchen. Yum.
I may make a small lasagna too!
To make this sauce:
1 lb of ground beef
1 package of Italian sweet sausage
three medium size tomato
1 green bell pepper
4 cloves of garlic
fresh basil
sugar
fresh thyme
3 tbsp water
 6oz tomato paste
salt/pepper/oregano to taste
Brown beef/sausage over med/high, add garlic, chopped peppers
stir till brown
add diced fresh tomatoes, fresh basil, sugar, fresh thyme, paste, water and seasoning.
Simmer over medium heat till bubbles, reduce heat and let simmer for a 3 hours,
stirring every 30 minutes.
Will serve four to six people over spag OR
feeds two over spag and med size lasagna.
Really good next day too!

Handmade is made with love...
Me and my 3 month old Grandson on skype
having a nice chat :)
Future proof that my Grandson gets 'it' the silliness
 from his Mum!
And my daughter gets it from...?
I wonder who...

Me Perhaps?

Leave a comment today, here on this my 200th post and enter a drawing for a stuffed pal

Dachshund, Vintage Crochet and Pictures

My Dachshund.
Happy Columbus Day to all my American friends.

Even with three months passed since arriving here in Virginia, as of today actually.
I'm still finishing up the final stages of the unpack. All the boxes have been emptied, except
for two boxes filled with DVD's and 15 small book boxes of my mates. (I gave away ninety percent of my library prior to move).

It's the keepsake boxes that I've been organizing or more so, rooting through.
Having stumbled upon a box filled with my Mother's crochet work, I had to snap a few pictures of it!
Mum made hundreds of these. This one was perhaps the very last one  she made  before passing away. Her hands  ached and shook a bit, towards the end.

Mum's reliable potholders. She made hundreds of these too. These were made in the early 80's. They've held up very well!

Ah and Mum's favourite thing to make and give (even to strangers) as gifts. Crochet topped kitchen towels.  These were from my Mum's kitchen. Easily these were made in the 70's.

And then I found vintage hankies with my Nana's crochet handiwork.

I think I get my passion for miniature work from my Nana. I love crocheting with steelies, small size hooks. Using the cotton tread is a trick sometimes. I'm always in awe of the finished outcome.
